Southern Water is entering a pivotal phase in its financial transformation, with a renewed focus on strategic funding and capital markets activity to support our ambitious investment plans. We are seeking a commercially astute and technically accomplished Deputy Treasurer - Capital Markets and Funding, to play a critical role in shaping and executing our financing strategy. Reporting to the Corporate Finance Director, this is a high-impact role at the heart of our Treasury function. You will lead on all aspects of funding activity, including bond issuances, bank facility negotiations, and derivatives execution. You'll also be a key point of contact for debt investors, banks, and rating agencies, ensuring Southern Water maintains strong market credibility and access to capital. Responsibilities

  • Leading the negotiation, documentation, and execution of financing initiatives across bond, bank, and private placement markets.
  • Managing relationships with banks, corporate advisors, rating agencies, and other financial stakeholders.
  • Overseeing debt investor relations, including presentations, updates, and maintaining the investor website.
  • Executing interest rate, inflation, and FX hedging strategies, and contributing to Group-level risk management.
  • Supporting the Corporate Finance Director and deputising where required.
  • Collaborating closely with the Deputy Treasurer - Corporate Finance to ensure knowledge sharing and alignment across Treasury.
  • Preparing board and executive-level papers on funding strategy and performance.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Treasury, with a strong track record in bond financing, capital markets activity, and derivatives.
  • Proven expertise in bank facility negotiation and managing complex financial transactions.
  • Strong understanding of structured finance, ideally within capital-intensive sectors such as utilities, infrastructure, or real estate.
  • Gravitas and leadership capability, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • MCT qualification would be advantageous.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience + £400 monthly car allowance and up to 10% bonus, This role will be full time Monday to Friday with a hybrid approach to working between Worthing and home.
