JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity to join a growing contracts team as a Fire Sprinkler Mechanical Design Engineer. The ideal candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD, design checklists, documentation processes, and designing automatic sprinkler systems.

As a Fire Sprinkler Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing automatic sprinkler systems in line with industry standards and company expectations.

This is a hands-on role requiring site visits, collaboration across departments, and a commitment to quality and safety.

DUTIES

• Designing and developing sprinkler systems according to BSEN 12845, BS9251, NFPA, and FM Global standards
• Producing and reviewing detailed design drawings and hydraulic calculations, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards
• Attending contract handover meetings, conducting site checks, verifying pipe routes, and collaborating with the Design Manager to resolve design issues
• Preparing and issuing final construction drawings, producing “As Fitted” drawings, and supporting continuous improvement efforts

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in designing automatic sprinkler systems
• Knowledge of LPC/BS EN 12845, NFPA, FM Global Datasheets, and FHC rules
• Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and work towards LPCB design qualifications
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with design checklists and documentation processes
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to attend training and participate in company meetings and projects
• Valid UK driving licence
