Design Manager (Water)

New Yesterday

Overview

Do you have a passion for engineering and a desire to make a real difference? Owing to our ongoing client relationships across the country, our teams tackle an exciting range of projects across the regulated water industry. We are looking to appoint Design Managers to support major programmes across the South of England.

This is your chance to:

  • Lead and develop project teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Work on exciting water projects that push boundaries and make a significant impact.
  • Partner with top water clients across the UK, shaping the future of the industry.

We are actively involved in the design and management of major projects across the water sector, with significant opportunities arising from our appointment onto Thames Water's Asset, Capital & Engineering framework. This creates the opportunity for a Design Manager to join our team, based from our London, Cambridge, Reading or High Wycombe offices, with hybrid working allowing for a combination of in-office and home working.

Responsibilities

  • As a Design Manager within our Major Projects community, oversee all aspects of delivery, including design & build projects, detailed design delivery and owners engineer services — requiring complex multi-disciplinary collaboration both internally and externally.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, identify innovative and sustainable solutions, plan technical delivery, and work with the client and partner organisations to deliver best value and client service excellence.
  • Collaborate with clients to exceed expectations, leveraging Stantec’s expertise to support project delivery.

This represents a great opportunity to join a business with huge growth potential. The role suits those who want to work collaboratively to drive continuous improvements and best practice within the regulated water sector. Our UK & Ireland business continues to grow at an impressive pace.

About You

You will have prior experience providing design leadership on major projects in roles such as Design Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineer or Project Leader. A technical background is typical — engineering, construction management, environmental or related consulting fields.

You will hold qualifications in engineering or project management with an understanding of large and complex construction/engineering projects, particularly within the water or related infrastructure sectors.

Through previous project delivery roles you will have established yourself as a trusted partner with clients and stakeholders, and you will mentor less experienced team members. You will support, promote and uphold our company values, especially putting people and clients first.

Why Join Us

This is an exciting time to join Stantec, with opportunities to tackle challenging projects across the region and growth throughout the AMP cycle. All employees have access to company-wide benefits, including:

  • Work on the Thames Water framework, with challenging and impactful projects
  • Individualised development plan alongside a company-wide structure showing a clear career pathway
  • Private medical insurance, group income protection & life assurance
  • Flexi-working and hybrid working to support work-life balance
