Overview

An exciting opportunity to join Bloomsbury Publishing, an award-winning independent publisher. We are looking for a talented, creative Designer/Senior Designer (depending on experience) to join our Academic and Professional Division, which publishes across a range of subjects including Fashion, Philosophy, Education, Linguistics, Design, History, Drama and Film and Media. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop a career in book cover design, working across a broad range of projects. This is a full-time permanent position.

Responsibilities

  • Cover design of new titles across selected lists
  • Generating final cover artwork (using Adobe CS) for new titles
  • Liaising with editorial, marketing and production colleagues, and external suppliers on cover design, status, schedules, and budgets
  • Ensure company systems are kept up-to-date with cover data, files and status
  • Conduct fortnightly Cover Meetings with title Editors

Qualifications

  • Experience working in an academic publishing environment
  • Proven technical expertise (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat)
  • Experience of managing freelance designers and illustrators
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • The ability to process a large volume of work quickly and accurately
  • A keen eye for detail
  • The confidence to liaise with internal stakeholders and external suppliers

Role Details

An exciting opportunity to join Bloomsbury Publishing, an award-winning and independent leading publisher. The role is a full-time permanent position. The role is based at our London office, 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP, on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days in the office / 3 days home-based (or fully office-based if preferred). Salary: from £30,000 p.a. depending on experience.
