Description
Team Internet is looking for an experienced DevOps Lead with exceptional leadership and mentoring skills, and deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and container orchestration. Our Registry Division plays a critical role in maintaining key segments of the Internet's core domain infrastructure. Our lean dedicated team sitting within our larger Team Internet group ensures that over 180 domain name extensions can be registered, maintained, and resolved around the clock within the global Domain Name System. Each day, we support over 20 million domain names and 32 billion DNS queries, keeping businesses and individuals connected online. Based on the location of the role, the role will be based in a country where we have an existing payroll setup. We are a flexi-first business and value in-person collaboration and make an effort to get together when and where makes the most impact.
Key outcomes of the role
Reporting directly to the Director of Registry Platform you’ll :
- Lead technical direction for critical infrastructure projects.
- Lead a team responsible for maintaining and enhancing our registry platform infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment.
- Mentor DevOps and engineering team members.
- Build multi-regional and multi-AZ AWS based services.
- Build and maintain robust, secure, and scalable platforms using technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, and Rancher in a hybrid cloud environment
About you
- 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
- Proven experience leading teams or mentoring engineers in a technical capacity.
- Strong understanding of a wide range of AWS technologies.
- Strong Kubernetes (multi-cluster, production-grade environments)
- Strong experience with Ansible, Terraform, and Rancher.
- Proficient with Docker and container-based design/deployment strategies.
- Ability to rapidly prototype within the AWS cloud.
- Strong capability with Linux, load balancing and system and application security.
- Good working knowledge of private cloud technologies such as LinuxKVM/QEMU & VMWare.
- Good working knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB and other data stores such as Redis, Memcache and DynamoDB.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, particularly Github actions and code quality controls.
- A keen interest in operational excellence and improvement.
- Prior experience in developing processes and clear, concise documentation. Demonstrated ability in monitoring, metrics and system observability.
What will give you the edge:
- Kubernetes Kubestronaut (or equivalent experience)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
- Prior experience in the domain name industry, particularly Registry experience
- Previous experience in data analytics/Business Intelligence technologies, such as Metabase or QuickSight
- Strong skills in Agile/Lean and technical mentoring
- An understanding of DNS, DNSSEC and ICANN TLD operations
