Overview

Digital Engineering Manager - Sizewell C - Ipswich based. The Sizewell C (SZC) project requires a Digital Engineering Manager to take a leading role in the Civil Works Alliance, contributing to and implementing the Digital Strategy and Digital Execution Plan. The role includes developing the way we will work to deliver digital information on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, embedding any specific standards, methods and/or procedures required by the client.

What you'll be doing

  • Maintain knowledge of best industry practices in modern ways of working related to Design Management through ISO19650.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Employer’s Information Requirements and the Project Information Model.
  • Contribute to the BIM Execution Plan that communicates and instructs the processes and workflows that will be undertaken through design management.
  • Develop and implement processes and use technology to manage the Project Information Model through construction stages, and for future operations and maintenance when the scheme is handed over to the maintainer.
  • Educate, develop and implement processes and use technology to manage the Project Information Model through construction stages.
  • Implement digital processes, culture and technology to be used during the Design and Construction phases.
  • Link the Programme to the Detailed Design Model (4D for Construction) and link costs to the Model (5D for Construction).
  • Implement processes/culture/technology so that an As Built model is created for Handover and Commissioning.
  • Apply Digital Site Management Techniques / mobile technology.
  • Research, develop, implement and review new ways of working to increase efficiency, reduce cost, improve quality and sustainability, aiming for Zero Harm.
  • Lead BIM Goals workshops to define KPI's for BIM Deliverables and facilitate digital coordination between project participants.
  • Track and report progress of project implementation and value gained from the use of digital processes.
  • Support educating the project team and supply chain members for the use and development of the Project Information Model (Graphical and Non-Graphical data).

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to build an effective digital delivery team and manage the team to deliver a high quality service.
  • Excellent understanding of infrastructure project delivery processes and challenges.
  • Strong interest in and understanding of construction industry improvement agenda and the use of digital technologies and data within infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with digital engineering through delivery and driving data-enabled ways of working.
  • Deliver training and support for their Digital specialism.
  • Proficient in 4D simulation software and capable of extrapolating 5D quantities from models.
  • Experience in design review, model management, BIM clash detection meetings and managing results to resolution.
  • Ability to deliver COBie assets requirements and manage risk through BIM and digital toolsets.
  • Working knowledge of a project CDE environment.
  • Valid CSCS card.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 5 and minimum 5 years industry experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding ISO 19650 Standards and Protocols, contracts and documentation with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of COBie requirements as per PAS1192-4.
  • BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng, HND/HDC or qualified by experience with understanding and proven delivery of infrastructure or building managing multiple processes/schemes.
  • Acting as Digital Information Manager on projects to comply with ISO 19650 requirements imposed by client.
  • Support the Project Team in the delivery of Graphical (models/drawings) and Non-Graphical (data) in line with the BEP.
  • Some understanding of Design, Construction, Surveying and Asset Management.
  • Bentley application experience, GIS experience, Synchro software experience or equivalent, 5D simulation, model verification, and familiarity with BIM 360, Bentley, etc.
