Overview

The Front-end Developer is a key member of our Digital & Data division, responsible for building, optimising, and maintaining engaging, high-performing, and accessible digital experiences.

This role requires strong expertise in modern front-end technologies (React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS) with a deep understanding of accessibility, usability, and performance best practices. You’ll support experimentation and optimisation initiatives using tools such as VWO or equivalent AB testing platforms, to deliver continuous improvements to our customer journeys.

Responsibilities

  • Front-end Development: Develop responsive, scalable, and accessible solutions using React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Implement and extend design systems to ensure consistent, high-quality UI delivery.
  • Integrate APIs (REST/GraphQL) with robust data handling and caching strategies.
  • Ensure cross-browser/device compatibility and responsive layouts.
  • Maintain code quality through reviews, testing, and best practices.
  • Optimisation & Experimentation: Support CRO strategies with targeted experiments, personalisation, and thorough testing.
  • Analyse experiment results with data teams and recommend improvements.
  • Identify, prioritise, and resolve defects efficiently.
  • Performance & Accessibility: Champion accessibility, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
  • Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS).
  • Apply performance techniques such as code-splitting, lazy loading, and asset optimisation.
  • Collaboration & Agile Practices: Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to deliver high-quality, user-centric digital products.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven years experience as a Front-end Developer or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in React, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3 (SASS/LESS or CSS-in-JS).
  • Experience with version control (Git/GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrable experience with VWO or equivalent AB testing/optimisation platforms.
  • Knowledge of web performance optimisation and accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
