Salary: £48,000 - £56,000 per year - depending on experience

Contract: Permanent (rotational programme - you’ll rotate across different teams every 6 months)

About The Role

We're looking for a Consultant to join our team - someone who is curious about digital transformation and excited to work with leading institutions around the world. This role represents the first step in our consulting career path, designed for people who are ready to learn and grow quickly while contributing meaningfully to client work from day one. You'll have the opportunity to rotate across different teams every six months, building your skills and experience as you grow toward your next career step with us at Public Digital.

How you’ll make an impact

Support client engagements by carrying out research, analysis, and helping to create deliverables that solve real problems
Help organise and facilitate workshops and meetings, keeping pace and creating focus for teams
Build relationships with stakeholders across different levels and contexts, representing Public Digital with confidence
Learn about digital transformation by working alongside passionate and experienced colleagues on live client projects
Contribute to proposals and pitches, helping to shape how we can best support our clients
Support the wider Public Digital team through internal projects and initiatives
Develop your expertise in areas that interest you, sharing insights internally and with clients

Requirements

What we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people to solve complex problems and is curious about how organisations work — and how they can work better.

You might have experience in digital transformation, but if not, that’s okay. We’re more interested in your mindset and potential than a specific background.

You Might

Have come from government, charity, private sector, an NGO, or a startup
Be a recent graduate or changing careers
Have deep expertise in a digital discipline — like user research, product management, service design, or software engineering
Be keen to develop broader consulting skills

Here’s How It Works

Step 1: Initial Application

Submit Your CV And Answer Three Short Questions

Q1: What’s one thing a public sector organisation could do to make a digital service better for the people who use it? Why does this matter to you?
Q2: Tell us about a time you worked with other people to solve a problem. What was your role, and what did you learn? (We’re interested in how you listen, collaborate and reflect - not just the result)
Q3: Public Digital is built on a few core principles, things like working in the open, focusing on users, building capability in teams, and acting with honesty. Tell us about a time you worked in a way that reflects one of these values. What difference did it make? (This helps us understand what matters to you and how you like to work.)

Step 2: Screening Call

If shortlisted, you’ll be invited to a 15-minute call. We’ll ask:

What’s been your most successful consulting project?
Why Public Digital, and why now?

Step 3: In-person Assessment Day (July 2025)

We’ll aim to invite around 20 people to take part in an in-person Assessment Day. You’ll meet members of the team, get a better sense of how we work, and take part in tasks designed to reflect the role.

It’s a two-way process, a chance for us to get to know you, and for you to see what working at Public Digital is really like.

The Assessment Day will be held in person only (not virtually), and will take place on one day during the week beginning 21st July. We’ll confirm the exact date as soon as we can, and we’ll give you as much notice as possible to help with planning.

Step 4: Result

We’ll inform you about the result whether you've been successful or not. As we have limited roles those who meet the benchmark but we are unable to appoint will be placed on a reserve list for up to 6 months for the same or similar opportunities.

Please note that we have seen an increase in candidates using AI Bots to complete their answers, we use tools designed to detect AI generated answers and will reject candidates if we suspect they have used this technology.

Things you need to know

Salary We’ll offer a salary that reflects your experience and the skills you show throughout the process. We aim to be as competitive as possible based on what you bring to the role.
Flexible working We support flexible working, and you can split your time between home and our London office. Most of the team comes in around once a week to collaborate, but there’s no set requirement to be in regularly.
However, as this is a client-facing role, there may be times when you'll need to travel to a client’s office or attend in-person meetings, depending on the needs of the project. While we offer flexibility where we can, we also appreciate the same in return when it comes to meeting client expectations.

Right to work

You’ll need to already have the right to work in the UK when you start. We’re not able to sponsor visas for this role. Reserve list

If you're successful at the final stage but we don’t have an immediate role available, we may place you on a reserve list for up to 6 months. This means we can get back in touch if a similar opportunity comes up within that time, and you won’t need to reapply. Closing date
