Role Overview
Grade Level (for internal use): 13. The EMEA Transport Infrastructure and Project Finance Team consists of twenty analysts across London, Madrid, Paris, Milan and Frankfurt. The team covers about 135 issuers across Europe, roughly two‑thirds project financings and one‑third infrastructure corporates (airports, ports, toll‑roads, and rail). Team members value collaboration, analytical excellence and cross‑skilling, delivering high‑quality and timely ratings that support financial markets. Our team operates with an enterprise perspective, connecting current analytical work to broader strategic objectives while fostering innovation and maintaining the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Act as primary analyst on a handful of high‑profile project and infrastructure credits.
- Be a team‑player able to step in and support transactional deal‑teams to execute and deliver complex corporate and project finance rating outcomes, as well as time‑sensitive reviews.
- Act as a spokesperson for the team in dealing with external market players, notably in the UK, working closely with the team's sector lead.
- Demonstrate adaptability and creativity in problem‑solving, including the ability to deliver with discipline any criteria‑related solutions.
- Collaborate with other analysts within the Ratings division to enhance cross‑sector knowledge and skills, leveraging your network at senior leadership level to ensure strategic alignment.
- Communicate with investors and market participants through high‑quality presentations and direct engagement.
- Acquire credit rating committee chair responsibilities both in project finance and corporate infrastructure.
- Ensure alignment with strategic objectives while coaching and empowering team members to maximize their analytical performance.
All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in‑person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
Qualifications
- At least eight years of experience in both Project Finance and Corporate Credit Analysis.
- Master's degree in finance, economics, business administration or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of project finance and infrastructure credit analysis.
- London‑based with the ability to work effectively across European and U.S. time zones.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in financial modelling, documentation and structural analysis with the ability to advise on complex credit issues.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to articulate complex credit ideas, manage difficult conversations, and negotiate effectively across functions and cultures.
- Results‑oriented mindset with a proven ability to deliver high‑quality credit analysis efficiently.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and adaptability to changing market situations, with the ability to make informed decisions and adapt to new information while maintaining strategic focus.
- Strategic thinking, confident decision‑making and strong integrity with a commitment to continuous improvement in credit analysis methodologies, in close cooperation with the team's sector lead and analytical manager.
