The Diocese of Leeds is seeking to appoint a Director of Communications to lead and shape our communications strategy at a pivotal time in our journey.

Our vision is to nurture confident Christians who live out their faith boldly and authentically. Communications are central to this mission, building understanding, fostering collaboration, and reaching beyond our church walls to engage with the wider world. We aim to speak with clarity and integrity about who we are and what we do, empowering bishops, clergy, lay leaders, parishes, and schools to do the same.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of a dynamic diocesan communications strategy
  • Promote diocesan themes and initiatives across digital, print, and social media platforms
  • Support senior leaders in engaging effectively with diverse audiences
  • Oversee content creation and distribution, ensuring consistency and impact
  • Provide expert PR support, including media relations and crisis communications

About You:

You will be a strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling and a deep understanding of the power of communication in shaping culture and community. You’ll bring experience in media, public relations, or communications leadership, and be confident working with senior stakeholders in a complex organisation.

The package includes a competitive salary, flexi-time scheme, an 8% non-contributory pension with an additional 5% matched contributions, hybrid working (50%), Cycle to work scheme, EV salary sacrifice scheme and30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and four customary days a year (between Christmas and New Year).
