About the Role

Lead the Build team within RUN Platform Engineering to modernize and evolve the software delivery ecosystem for the RUN Core platform. Drive cloud migration enablement, Infrastructure as Code, immutable infrastructure patterns, and DevOps engineering excellence while empowering application teams.

Core Mission

Define and execute a vision that accelerates delivery, increases platform reliability, and reduces toil through automation, enablement, standardization, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set a vision, own roadmap, align modernization with enterprise cloud migration strategy and security/compliance guardrails.
  • Evolve and modernize the existing .NET build framework; apply best practices for configuration management.
  • Drive reproducible infrastructure patterns, create golden image pipelines (Packer + Shared Image Gallery). Standardize CI/CD templates, artifact versioning and environment promotion flows.
  • Champion IaC, immutable infrastructure, auto‑scaling, and shift‑left operational & security practices. Enable DB and Data platform developers (database as code, automated schema/DML governance, data visibility).
  • Improve observability: metrics, logs, traces, build performance KPIs. Create and update documentation, including system diagrams.
  • Champion adoption of GenAI tools (e.g., Copilot) aligned with enterprise AI strategy.
  • Lead, coach, grow a cross‑functional Build engineering team and partner with Platform Engineering, SRE, DBA, and the broader software organization.
  • Instill agile flow (WIP limits, throughput, outcome focus) and foster platform enablement mindset & self‑service adoption.
  • Remove delivery bottlenecks; elevate risk; drive post‑mortem follow‑through.
  • Reduce build/image lead time and variance; reduce direct engagement through enablement practices; drive automation coverage (patch/image refresh, hotfixes, code branch management, release, rollback).
  • Engage stakeholders – Application, Program & Project Management, Security, Architecture, SRE, Cloud, Release Management, Governance. Translate requirements into roadmap, track progress, provide updates and manage change.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BE in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • 7+ years engineering (DevOps/Platform/SRE) + 2–3 years people leadership.
  • Proven delivery of platform modernization and process optimization initiatives.
  • Experience with on‑premises and cloud ecosystems: servers, storage, networking, identity, image lifecycle, governance.
  • Experience with IaC at scale (Terraform modules, state management, tagging & policy).
  • Experience with CI/CD orchestration (Jenkins, Ansible or similar).
  • Strong scripting (PowerShell + Python/Bash).
  • Observability and operational metrics implementation.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.

Preferred

  • Security & compliance automation (scanning, secret management, policy engines).
  • Database change automation (Liquibase) & data platform enablement.
  • Application of GenAI tools to streamline development and operations.
  • Governance of multi‑environment artifact/version promotion.

Core Competencies

  • Technical depth balanced with pragmatic decision‑making.
  • Coaching, delegation, accountability frameworks.
  • Systems thinking & KPI‑driven continuous improvement.

Tooling Landscape

Not specified; however, candidates should have experience with Azure Cloud, Terraform, Jenkins, Packer, shared image galleries, and common platform tools.

Benefits & Culture Highlights

  • Work in a collaborative team environment focused on client outcomes.
  • Opportunity to own and drive significant architectural initiatives.
  • Support for continuous learning and personal development.
  • Commitment to equality, equity, and giving back to the community.
