About NAAM
The New American Association of Massachusetts (NAAM) is a nonprofit serving immigrants and refugees through employment programs, ESOL classes, youth services, and legal support. We are client-centered and holistic: we tackle language barriers, skills gaps, childcare, transportation, and wellness challenges so newcomers can build confident, self-sufficient lives.
Position Overview
The Director of Employment Services leads our two flagship programs—ESSP (state-funded job-readiness for Department of Transitional Assistance clients) and CRES (federally funded employment services for ORR-eligible refugees)—and will design new initiatives as funding grows. You will steer strategy and day-to-day operations, supervise a multidisciplinary team, ensure data-driven quality and compliance, and cultivate partnerships with employers, funders, and community agencies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program & Quality Management
- Develop and refine SOPs, workflows, and service-delivery standards across ESSP, CRES, and future programs.
- Monitor goals, outcomes, and contract deliverables; prepare for funder audits and site visits.
- Coordinate seamlessly with ESOL, youth, legal, and wellness teams to deliver wrap-around support.
Staff Leadership
- Hire, train, and coach employment specialists, case managers, and interns; conduct regular performance reviews.
- Foster a supportive, trauma-informed culture that values healthy work–life boundaries while meeting occasional urgent deadlines.
Client-Centered Service Design
- Ensure holistic case plans that address English acquisition, skills training, childcare, transportation, and health/behavioral-health barriers.
- Step in on complex cases and model high-quality, culturally responsive practice.
Employer & Community Engagement
- Build pipelines with local and regional employers; tailor placement and retention strategies to workforce needs.
- Represent NAAM in workforce coalitions, job fairs, and partner meetings.
Data, Technology & Reporting
- Oversee accurate data capture and analysis in Salesforce (or similar CRM); train staff on digital tools.
- Produce timely narrative and quantitative reports (monthly/quarterly/annual) for state and federal funders.
- Use data insights to drive continuous improvement and inform grant proposals.
Budget & Grants
- Develop, monitor, and manage program budgets in collaboration with NAAM’s fiscal team.
- Track expenditures, reconcile budgets, and ensure responsible use of program funds.
- Facilitate payments to vendors and adjust budgets as needed to reflect programmatic changes.
- Contribute to grant writing, budget justifications, and advocacy for new funding.
Who We’re Looking For
- 3+ years in employment services/workforce development; 1+ year supervising staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Public Admin, or related field.
- Proven record serving immigrant/refugee communities and navigating government contracts.
- Tech-savvy: comfortable with CRMs (Salesforce a plus), Excel/Sheets, and virtual collaboration tools.
- Calm, humorous, and motivational under pressure; committed to staff well-being.
- Multilingual skills and trauma-informed training are big pluses.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay including paid holidays, generous PTO, and a flexible hybrid schedule.
- Future salary-increase potential tied to program expansion, new grants, and performance.
- A warm, collegial team that values innovation, empathy, and growth—yours and our clients’.
