Director of Finance Transformation

We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance Transformation to own and manage the broad and multi-pillared AXA UK and Ireland CFO Transformation portfolio. This includes overseeing Finance, Legal and Property, Procurement, and Operations (PP&O), as well as leading the delivery of CFO-function change initiatives. You'll play a pivotal role in realising the overall UK&I CFO strategy, delivering significant benefits for both the CFO function and the wider UK&I business
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own and manage the CFO Transformation portfolio for UK&I, incorporating Finance, Legal and PP&O.
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams to deliver on CFO-function change initiatives, including strategic and mandatory programmes and BAU change, working closely with consulting partners where required.
- Consolidate, refine, lead and deploy the data, systems, business analysis and project management capabilities of the function.
- Work with the wider Finance, Legal and PP&O Leadership teams to identify and deliver cost savings through process optimisation, technology, automation and AI, aligning with the Company’s strategic direction.
- Explore usage of and deliver innovative technologies to gain efficiencies and identify new opportunities across Finance, Actuarial and wider business.
- Lead key data and tech transformation projects across UK Finance.
- Act as the key point of contact for CFO Change across the wider organisation to assess the impacts on wider change programmes on the CFO function. Adopt central change methodologies and contract with central teams to ensure the appropriate resource and funding is secured for Finance change initiatives. Keep agile planning to adapt to new Business Units systems changes.
- Develop a team of change professionals with the requisite skills to deliver the CFO change agenda, as well as providing inputs to other programmes across the business where an impact on the CFO function is identified.
- Drive cultural transformation within the CFO function, promoting a collaborative and innovative environment of continuous improvement.
- Develop strategies to upskill the workforce on modern technology, AI, and Data, ensuring readiness for future demands.
- Lead and influence the prioritisation of resources, projects, funding and delivery pace.
- Enable consistent and agile methodology, use of tools and repeatable quality deliverables.

What you’ll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in managing a Finance Change portfolio and/or large cross-functional CFO-function Programmes within complex organisations.
- Proven programme and project management competence, including successful delivery of the Project Lifecycle from definition to benefits realisation and data and tech projects
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive cultural change and foster a forward-thinking workforce.
- Ability to drive a consensus with an established executive leadership team.
- Excellent planning and consulting skills to streamline processes and drive successful transformation.
- Proficiency in implementing Process Optimisation and Agile methodologies, and driving digitalization, AI, and automation initiatives.
- Finance qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) desirable.
- Sound financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, forecast costs, and evaluate financial impacts.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to challenge the status quo constructively at all levels and escalate appropriately.
- Financial Services experience.
- Ability to lead and motivate people in own team and in the wider organisation.
- Proven ability to create and maintain effect relationships and wider networks.
