Director of Global Benefits Operations

New Today

Summary

We are seeking a strategic, execution-focused Director of Benefits Services to lead the growth of Deel’s global benefits offerings, including the implementation and management of Deel’s Benefits Administration tool. This role is essential for building scalable benefits processes, developing brokerage strategies, and launching products and partnerships to serve a diverse global clientele.

You will drive operational leadership, technical oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the platform meets compliance standards, scales with client needs, and delivers an exceptional user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of Deel’s global benefits function, ensuring smooth delivery across all markets.
  • Manage and support the benefits operations team, driving accountability, performance, and collaboration.
  • Implement and scale Deel’s proprietary Benefits Administration platform, ensuring it meets compliance standards (e.g., ACA, HIPAA, COBRA).
  • Build and execute a scalable global benefits strategy aligned with Deel’s growth goals.
  • Design and optimize benefits processes for multi-country coverage, ensuring cost-effectiveness and regulatory alignment.
  • Lead Deel’s brokerage strategy.
  • Define and monitor KPIs, performance metrics, and SOPs to drive operational excellence and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (HR, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Product) to ensure alignment with global policies and standards.
  • Support new market launches and expansions from an operational and compliance-readiness perspective.
  • Coordinate with product and systems teams to operationalize scalable benefits solutions—without owning product development.
  • Act as the internal expert on benefits administration, ensuring exceptional service and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years total, with 5+ years in global benefits or related fields, and at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • 3+ years of direct experience with benefits administration platforms or services (e.g., BenAdmin, payroll/HRIS, insurance carrier integrations).
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits, including plan design, enrollment, eligibility, and compliance.
  • Proven experience in designing and scaling benefits programs across multiple countries.
  • Proven experience as a Benefits Broker or Insurance Broker with a focus on international markets.
  • Proven global network for benefits.

Skills

  • Strong strategic thinking and execution capabilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience advising senior leadership.
  • In-depth knowledge of global benefits regulations and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with corporate benefits policies, global mobility frameworks, and vendor management.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
  • Licensed broker (preferred).

Desired Skillset

  • Product Experience: Experience working with product teams to develop and integrate benefits solutions; familiarity with building scalable benefits products for diverse employment types and geographies; prior experience building or launching a benefits administration platform or module from scratch; familiarity with broker systems, employee self-service portals, and HR/payroll ecosystems.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and optimize benefits offerings.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey strategies and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
