About the Role

We are looking for a partner-level general commercial litigator who can take ownership of the dispute resolution practice and drive its expansion. While having an existing client following is advantageous, it is not essential. The successful candidate will initially benefit from support from an established resource based in Chester, with the clear ambition to generate sufficient work to enable further junior recruitment within the Altrincham office.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the dispute resolution team in Altrincham, with responsibility for managing and developing a high-quality commercial litigation caseload.
• Collaborate closely with partners across other departments in the Altrincham office to generate and cross-sell work, fostering strong inter-team relationships.
• Build and maintain excellent client relationships, demonstrating effective client relationship management skills.
• Actively participate in business development initiatives and contribute to firm-wide growth strategies.
• Mentor and support junior lawyers as the team expands, nurturing a high-performing and client-focused culture.
• Work proactively to identify and secure new commercial opportunities within the wider client base.

What We’re Looking For

• Partner-level experience as a general commercial litigator, ideally with a track record of growing a client base and/or leading a team.
• Demonstrable ability to build strong client relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple practice areas.
• Strong business development skills with a proactive approach to cross-selling services internally and externally.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to grow a standalone dispute resolution practice within the office.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to the wider office culture and growth ambitions.
• Experience or willingness to work across a variety of commercial disputes, managing complex and high-value matters.
