PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £86,000 - £125,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

We are looking for 3 divisional leads with the successful candidate being aligned to one of the following divisions:

  • Content: based in London or Salford
  • News: based in London
  • Nations: based in Cardiff, Birmingham, Salford, Glasgow or Belfast

We will be running a two stage interview process for this role with interviews starting from Friday 28th November.

Purpose of the role

The Divisional Head of Performance, Leadership, Talent and Inclusion plays a key delivery role within the BBC’s central Performance, Leadership and Talent team, supporting the implementation of performance, talent, leadership, and inclusion initiatives across their respective division.

You will work closely with divisional HR teams and key business stakeholders where you will translate group-wide priorities into clear, actionable plans that are tailored to the needs of your division to make a lasting impact. You will also work to identify the levers, interventions and programmes that are required in order to power the divisional strategy.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact

  • Act as the main link between central Talent & Inclusion and divisional HR, translating group-wide frameworks into locally relevant strategies.
  • Lead divisional delivery of performance, succession, career and leadership programmes, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Champion inclusive practices and support progress against BBC diversity goals, partnering with Workforce Diversity to embed inclusion.
  • Drive adoption of performance frameworks and ensure talent pipelines support future needs, using data to inform decisions.
  • Identify leadership development needs and support rollout of tailored programmes, working closely with the BBC Academy.
  • Collaborate across HR, D&I, and Talent Acquisition to deliver integrated solutions and contribute to the evolution of BBC-wide frameworks.

Essential Criteria

Your Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in Talent, Leadership, Inclusion or broader HR roles within complex, matrixed organisations, with a strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving organisation-wide change.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and delivering strategic people initiatives with measurable impact across large business areas, including experience managing programmes through to implementation.
  • Deep expertise in embedding inclusive practices and advancing diversity, inclusion and belonging, with evidence of delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capability, including the ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns and risks, and make timely, insight-led decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, challenge constructively, and align diverse groups around shared goals.
  • Strategic thinker with high learning agility, capable of translating ideas into practical solutions tailored to divisional and organisational contexts, while navigating ambiguity and change.
