Document Control Lead

Morgan Hunt are currently partnering with a leading Housing Association in their search for a Document Control Lead to join the Building Safety Directorate.



You will play a pivotal role in the establishment and delivery of function that ensures the integrity, accessibility, and compliance of project documentation across the organisation's most complex and high-impact delivery programmes.



You will establish and uphold best-in-class document control systems that align with internal policies and external regulatory frameworks, including ISO 19650-1 and 19650-2. Your leadership will be instrumental in coordinating document control activities across a diverse range of stakeholders, design consultants, contractors, and internal delivery teams, ensuring that the Golden Thread of Information is preserved and traceable throughout the entire lifecycle of each project.



The role will suit an experienced Document Control professional who brings deep construction expertise, team leadership experience, and a thorough understanding of design and construction documentation across major programmes. Job Title: Building Safety Document Control Lead

Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week in Farringdon Office

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time







Key Responsibilities

· Lead the development and implementation of document control systems and processes for the Fire Remediation Programme.

· Coordinate project documentation across multiple design and construction schemes (each with their own contractors and document leads).

· Manage a wide variety of documents, including Building Control process records, Safety Plans, Operational Manuals, Test Data, and Design Packages.

· Maintain oversight of the status and quality of all submitted project information, ensuring that the correct and most recent documentation is available to key stakeholders.

· Implement and monitor compliance with ISO 19650, Golden Thread requirements, and other regulatory frameworks.

· Coordinate across internal delivery teams and external consultants/contractors to ensure alignment and accountability.

· Contribute to the wider development of the organisation's Building Safety Governance Framework, supporting long-term safety, transparency and resilience.

· Lead regular audits, generate reports, manage risks and corrective actions, and ensure information delivery aligns with project milestones.

· Support the transition to new systems and continuous improvement across Document Control.




Person Specification

Essential Experience & Background

· 6-8 years of experience in Document Control (with a focus on construction or major programme delivery).

· Proven success in establishing document control functions in complex construction environments.

· Strong understanding of project delivery documentation and compliance across design, construction, and handover.

· Experience coordinating with multiple work packages (e.g. fire, structure, electrical) and understanding the supply chain and subcontractor responsibilities.




Technical Knowledge

· Detailed knowledge of ISO 19650 (and ideally ISO 9001) and familiarity with Building Safety Act 2022, CDM 2015, Building Regulations 2010.

· Understanding of document workflows, common data environments (CDEs), information distribution matrices, and project reporting.

· Experience with platforms such as Field View, Viewpoint, BIM 360, and SharePoint.

· Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented approach to documentation.

· Excellent stakeholder and team management skills - able to lead and influence cross-functional contributors.

· Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to handle large volumes of technical information.

· Clear and confident communicator, capable of working with minimal supervision.




Qualifications

· Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Information Management, Engineering or a related field.

· Formal training or certification related to ISO 19650 (desirable).
