Responsibilities

  • Read and review documents, identify lines of enquiry, raise and allocate actions, and assess returned actions for completeness.
  • Ensure high-quality case files that support legal action by the Environment Agency.
  • Apply understanding or prior experience in major investigations and familiarity with HOLMES or other major investigation case management systems.
  • Manage evidence collection and large volumes of investigative material using Case Management System; maintain strong IT skills, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication.
  • Be prepared to undertake an incident role, respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support (may attract additional payment; full training provided).
  • Pass NPPV2 and SC vetting processes if selected.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge/understanding of Major Incident Room Standardised Administration Procedures (MIRSAP).
  • PIP 2 (Professionalising Investigation Programme) Qualification.
  • Experience and knowledge of Exhibit Management.
  • Experience with investigative legislation (e.g., Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000).
  • Experience of conducting criminal investigations.

Experience/Skills Required

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Methodical, results-driven with strong IT skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage own workload, be a self-starter, and work well in a team.
  • High regard for Health and Safety practices.

Location, Working Arrangements and Travel

The base location is Birmingham with flexible/hybrid working; attendance in the Birmingham office at least once a week is expected. Some travel may be required; a full UK driving licence is required.

Additional Information

Interviews are expected to be held in early October via MS Teams. If you consent to be recruited onto a reserve list, details may be held for 6 months and an alternative post may be offered. There is a Guaranteed Interview Policy to support disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria.
