Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Alton
Salary: Up to £55,000 p/a plus package

You'll be responsible for the specification, design, assembly, installation, and commissioning of electrical equipment, ensuring systems meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation installations by internal teams and subcontractors
• Review client design drawings, schedules, and documents for pricing and compliance purposes
• Prepare electrical design drawings, calculations, schedules, and documentation for MCCs, cable networks, and containment systems
• Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Control Philosophies specific to water projects
• Assess client DNO supply characteristics, site earthing design, and lightning protection needs
• Prepare electrical design and enquiry packages for subcontractor tenders
• Review supplier and subcontractor designs to ensure compliance with client specifications
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), site inspections, certification processes, and commissioning activities
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, suppliers, and contractors to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes
• Identify opportunities for business improvements and contribute to team meetings and initiatives

What They're Looking For

• Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in engineering, science, or related field
• At least three years' postgraduate experience in utilities or M&E engineering, ideally within the water industry
• Strong background in industrial/commercial electrical and ICA design, installation, testing, and commissioning
• Experience with MCC/Electrical Panel design, calculations, and supporting documentation
• Knowledge of Low Voltage (LV) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems, including I/O, relay logic, instrumentation, and conditioning
• Advantageous experience as an NIC-EIC Competent Person
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues
• Full driving licence with willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland, including overnight stays
