Overview
Electrical Systems Engineer / Architect subcontractor opportunity with a World Class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Hybrid working: 3 days onsite per week and 2 days remote. Contract duration: 12 months initially, with potential long-term continuation. Hourly rate: £60-£85 (Umbrella).
Role: Electrical Systems Engineer / Architect at TieTalent.
Responsibilities
- Specify/determine system electrical requirements and interface definitions between subsystems/equipment
- Define power architecture, including power budget and power profiles
- Design data communication and processing architecture
- Establish requirements for EMC, bonding, grounding and screening
- Address signal safety and routing of safety-related signals
- Support test and fault-finding activities during compatibility checks, risk reduction, system proving/qualification and integration
- Review and author reports, guidelines and processes; perform design assessments and analyses
- Work to defence/industry standards and attend/support design reviews
- As Equipment Manager (RMO), project-manage electrical/electronic equipment on a missile or launcher system
- Own project equipment requirements, produce Statements of Work, update plans, and manage design authorities
- Lead progress reviews, review qualification evidence, track non-compliances, and participate in design reviews
Skillset / Experience
- Electrical/electronics engineering background
- Interface definitions and knowledge of defence/industry standards
- Degree-level qualification in a related subject
- Systems engineering and technical writing (reports)
- Experience with defence-related projects preferred
- Experience in areas such as defence, weapon systems, power supplies, actuators, data communication, sensors, EMC, HUMS, MB(E)
Ideally within defence background, but other engineering sectors will be considered. Other areas of interest include: defence, weapon systems, power supplies, actuators, data communication, sensors, EMC, HUMS, MB(E).
