United Utilities’ (UU) purpose is to deliver great water for a stronger, greener and healthier North West of England. We are committed to providing our services in a way that respects the environment, supports the economy, and benefits society.

We value diversity, inclusion and innovation in our workplace, and we foster a culture where our people can grow, excel, and be themselves.

We uphold our ethics, values and business model to fulfil our mission and, by setting clear goals and objectives, we create sustainable long-term value for our colleagues, customers and communities. Whether you work with a team that shares your vision or join a network of peers with similar interests, you will find a welcoming and supportive organisation to be part of.

We’ve got a lot to offer. You’ll be part of a thriving FTSE 100 company and will enjoy a range of core benefits that reflect your value and value contribution.

The Role

Whether you’re already dual-skilled or bring a solid electrical background with an appetite to learn more, this is your opportunity to make a real impact—and grow while you’re doing it.

We’re looking for a proactive and hands-on professional to join our Kendal production team. You’ll be part of a modern, fast-paced maintenance environment, playing a key role in keeping critical water assets running efficiently.

This role is primarily electrically biased, but mechanical capability is a real advantage. If you’re currently electrical-only, don’t worry—we’ll support your development with on-the-job training to build your mechanical skillset and help you become truly flexi-skilled.

You’ll be responsible for delivering both proactive planned maintenance and responsive support across your area of expertise, helping us meet key compliance and environmental standards. You’ll also have the chance to contribute to both capital and operational projects—ensuring our assets are not just maintained, but continuously improved.

Here’s how we reward your skillset:

If you’re bringing one core skill to us (Electrical or Mechanical) you’ll start on a salary of £38,462, but if you’ve got both disciplines, you’ll earn £44,320.

One core skill-don’t go anywhere…..we will support with the training. Our dedicated team of training professionals will provide you a tailored development plan to help you build your skillset and get you seen.
