Job Title: Electronics Design Manager
Location: Chesterfield Area | Flexible Hybrid (Work from Home Available)

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK's leading engineering companies, delivering cutting-edge solutions to some of the world's most advanced manufacturers. We are seeking an Electronics Design Manager to play a pivotal role within the engineering department. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will lead a small team of electrical and electronic design engineers, overseeing project delivery, process compliance, and seamless collaboration across departments. This role combines hands-on technical design work with leadership responsibilities, guiding the development of bespoke electronic systems from concept to manufacture. Using a mix of off-the-shelf components and custom interfaces, you\'ll ensure innovative, robust, and manufacturable designs are delivered on time and to specification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of electrical/electronics engineers
  • Design schematics, PCB layouts, and assembly documentation
  • Carry out fault finding, testing, and validation of electronic systems
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure cost-effective, practical designs
  • Drive projects to completion within agreed timescales and budgets

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading a small engineering design team
  • Strong expertise in analogue and digital PCB design (Altium preferred)
  • Skilled in schematic creation and electronic system testing
  • Experience designing with manufacturing in mind
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Proactive, hands-on, and solution-focused approach
  • Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
