Overview
The Employee Relations (ER) & HR Operations function forms a key part of MRI’s global Talent Management strategy. This role serves as a point of contact for employees and supports management in coaching and people management. The ER & HR Operations Manager will lead delivery of effective and compliant global ER & HR operations for MRI’s ~1,000 employees across the UK, Ireland, and UAE, and will manage a team located in the UK and UAE, with partnerships to the HR Shared Services team in the Philippines. The role also collaborates with counterparts in North America & Asia Pacific to operate as part of a global ER team.
Responsibilities
- Work with Global & Regional Talent Management leadership to support the Global ER & Ops Strategy and to understand key regional issues.
- Provide leadership and development to three ER/Operations team members (UK & UAE); monitor workflow and capacity; handle escalations.
- Act as SME for ER best practices, conflict resolution, proactive people management; manage high‑level ER cases and related paperwork; handle team escalations.
- Primary point of contact for complex ER cases (disciplinaries, grievances, capability, absences, appeals); ensure legally compliant handling per local employment law & ACAS guidelines.
- Monitor ER case trends; provide insights to inform policy updates, engagement, training needs, and cultural initiatives; provide risk management advice to the business.
- Oversee employee policies and procedures as outlined in regional Handbooks; ensure consistent application and compliance.
- Oversee day-to-day HR operations with HR Shared Services (HRSS) including payroll, benefits, systems, and employee data; manage EMEA escalations from HRSS.
- Partner with Finance/Payroll on overlapping queries; participate in payroll meetings to ensure accurate information flow.
- Manage audits, risk reviews, and compliance checks related to HR operations.
- Advise on regional benefit design and execution (private medical, income protection, pension) with Total Rewards & HRSS; assist with day-to-day administration as needed.
- Support onboarding and TUPE of acquired employees; manage talent M&A activities for EMEA.
- Manage company sponsored visa holders in partnership with an external partner.
- Support regional Employee Engagement initiatives and diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging objectives in ER/HR Operations.
Pre-requisites
- 5+ years of Employee Relations experience; ability to manage complex ER cases and paperwork independently (disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, redundancies, dismissals, etc.).
- 2+ years People Leadership experience.
- Solid UK HR knowledge; familiarity with Ireland & UAE ER requirements is a plus.
- Knowledge of UK Compensation & Benefits, Payroll, Performance Management; awareness of DEI principles.
- Strong relationship and stakeholder management; ability to influence senior leadership.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to flex work hours for global collaboration (evenings) with the global ER team.
