Job type: Full-time or 30 hours per week, permanent
Salary: Circa £50,000 - £55,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience and location
Location: This is a hybrid role where you’ll be mainly based from home but there’ll be regular travel for client and internal meetings.
What you’ll be doing You’ll be a key part of our Employee Relations team, helping clients deal with a wide range of workplace challenges. Your role will involve reviewing and advising on complex employee relations cases like grievances, disciplinary matters, and investigations, always aiming for the best possible outcomes. You’ll guide clients through important business change processes such as redundancies, restructures, and TUPE transfers, making sure they take the right legal and commercial steps. You’ll also draft clear, practical policies, procedures, and letters that reflect each client’s culture. Working closely with the People Partnering team, you’ll share your expertise to help them deliver top-quality advice and support. Alongside managing client cases, you’ll lead projects around new ways of working and help develop internal tools and training materials to strengthen the whole team. Your responsibilities will be many and varied, but never boring. Here’s a glimpse into your day-to-day role:
- Manage high-risk and sensitive employee relations cases (e.g. disciplinary, grievance, whistleblowing), including investigations, hearings, and drafting outcomes.
- Review a wide range of ER and business change documentation (drafted by the People Partnering Team) to ensure clarity, compliance, and consistency.
- Draft bespoke policies, procedures, handbooks, and employment contracts tailored to each client’s needs and culture.
- Support and guide internal service teams on complex ER and change-related queries, ensuring advice is timely, practical, and commercially sound.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of clients, delivering proactive support and becoming a trusted strategic partner.
- Keep accurate and detailed time records using Accelo, ensuring all work aligns with project scopes and billing expectations.
- Stay up to date with employment law and best practice, sharing knowledge internally and delivering training to colleagues.
- Contribute to business growth by supporting in new client meetings and identifying opportunities for additional support.
You have a solid grasp of employment law and know how to apply it in a practical, clear, and commercially sensible way. You’re confident advising senior leaders, handling difficult conversations, and spotting potential risks before they become problems.
Communication comes naturally to you. You’re great at breaking down complex ER issues into straightforward advice that clients can trust and feel supported by. You’re organised and calm under pressure, juggling multiple priorities without losing sight of the details or quality.
People often turn to you for guidance, and you’re happy to share your knowledge and support the wider team. Above all, you genuinely care about doing the right thing and making a positive difference for the clients and colleagues you work with.
The Perks:We’re probably biased, but we think this role is exciting, interesting, fun, challenging, full of growth opportunities… we could go on. All that aside, we also offer:
- Competitive salary, Circa £50,000 - £55,000 per annum FTE.
- 25 days holiday when you start employment with us, 27 days after 1 year service, 29 days after 2 years’ service + bank holidays.
