Overview

Job title: Employment Adviser

Location: Travelling to our Glasgow office at least 2 days a week

Salary: £23,000 - £26,000

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with occasional evening/weekend work (TOIL provided)

Contract: Permanent

Language Requirements: Fluency in English and at least one target language is desirable e.g., Arabic, Tigrinya, Ukrainian, Pashto, Farsi, and Dari.

Overall purpose: Within this role you will carry a significant responsibility, managing a caseload of clients from a refugee background and supporting them in securing meaningful employment, training, and education opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one personalised support and deliver quality Information Advice and Guidance (IAG).
  • Collaborate with clients to produce individual support plans with clear goals and actions to overcome identified needs and barriers, creating a pathway towards the labour market.
  • Work with clients online, by phone, and in person to monitor progress toward goals.
  • Coordinate with volunteers who are trained to deliver employment support and book weekly appointments based on volunteer availability and specialisation.
  • Collaborate with specialist referral partners to support clients in overcoming complex barriers to employment.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and bring a proactive approach to help clients make a difference in their lives.

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience in supporting individuals with barriers to work into paid employment is desirable.
  • Language requirements as stated above; English fluency is essential. Desirable: proficiency in one of the target languages listed.
  • Part-qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Safeguarding: pre-employment checks may include basic DBS checks for some roles, references, and verification of identity and right to work in the UK.
