Scope of the Role
This role will be key in supporting the planning and delivery of MLMS’ engagement activities, with a particular focus on the Next Gen Conference in October 2025. You'll help coordinate speakers, liaise with partners and venues, support event logistics, and assist with follow-up and impact reporting. You’ll also help plan and deliver activities related to the Votes at 16 campaign, including events around party conferences and strategic planning for its presence at Next Gen.
Please note that this is a temporary post. The ideal candidate will join as soon as possible for a duration of 3-months.
Key Responsibilities
NextGen Conference 2025:
- Coordinate speaker recruitment and manage relationships before, during, and after the event
- Work with partners to confirm and deliver activations at the conference
- Support attendee recruitment via partner organisations and public-facing outreach
- Liaise with the venue on logistics and access requirements
- Coordinate and brief volunteers to support event delivery
- Provide on-the-day delivery support, including stage management, speaker support, and troubleshooting
- Assist with post-event follow-up, stakeholder communication, and impact reporting
Votes at 16 Campaign:
- Support planning and logistics for Votes at 16-related events including ones around party conference appearances, D'Cafés, and a potential Westminster event
- Assist in outreach to political stakeholders and youth groups
- Help develop strategy for Votes at 16 presence at the Next Gen Conference
General Engagement Support:
- Contribute to the smooth delivery of the engagement team’s wider programmes
- Support with communications to speakers, volunteers, and partners
- Maintain administrative records, contact databases, and event tracking systems
- Attend and support occasional evening/weekend events (with TOIL)
Personal Specification
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational, multitasking, and time-management skills
- High level of discretion and professionalism
- Confident using tools like Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, etc
- Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgement and solve problems quickly and effectively
- Experience working in a charity, youth, or social impact organisation
- Understanding of budgeting or financial systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks)
- Experience coordinating events or projects in a professional or voluntary setting
- Able to multitask and remain calm under pressure in a live event environment
- Passion for youth participation, democracy, and social justice
- Confident speaking publicly and engaging in conversations
- Experience working on political, youth-led, or community engagement campaigns
- Self-motivation and enthusiasm
- Ability and willingness to travel for work
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends if required

- To occasionally travel to meetings across the UK and Europe, which may require the need for an overnight stay.
- To occasionally work unsociable hours, for example attending evening or weekend meetings or traveling outside of London.
- To maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality at all times.
- The nature of the post will require flexibility in undertaking the role.
