Engagement Officer (Midlands & West)

We are looking for an Engagement Officer to work with members of the UK fire services community in an inhouse face to face fundraising capacity. This role covers a region reaching from Severn Park in Avonmouth (Bristol) to Staffordshire and across the Midlands and part of Wales. The successful candidate will ideally be located around the Birmingham area or within the Mid / West of England to enable frequent travel across the region to visit stations and training centres regularly.

What you will do

  • Build relationships with the fire and rescue services in your area and be an integral part of the local fire services community.
  • Work collaboratively with the national team of fundraisers to help secure income for the Charity.
  • Provide talks to new recruits to raise awareness of the charity services and encourage signups to individual giving schemes.
  • Maximise recruitment, re-engagement and retention of individual supporters.
  • Plan and schedule visits to stations, manage and maintain personal data, and record outcomes on the CRM system.
  • Travel across the region (Severn Park in Avonmouth, Bristol; Staffordshire; the Midlands; and parts of Wales).
  • Observe necessary travel, planning for visits, and relevant safeguarding and data protection requirements.

About you

  • Experienced fundraiser with excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver PowerPoint presentations clearly.
  • Good organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Competent with standard Microsoft packages, strong time management, and proficient use of social media and apps.
  • Willing to travel and occasionally stay away overnight.
  • Knowledge of the UK Fire and Rescue Service community is beneficial; knowledge of fundraising legal requirements, data protection, and information security principles is required.

  • Hours: 30 hours per month (approximately 6.92 hours per week).
  • Salary: 5242.76 per year
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Location: Homebased with regular travel; region covers Midlands & West; requires travel to Severn Park (Avonmouth), Bristol, Staffordshire, Midlands, and parts of Wales.
  • Role is subject to a Basic Disclosure and Barring Services Check.
