An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineer to join our Development and Water Management team in Engineering Services at Hampshire County Council. We are looking for highly motivated, suitably qualified, and experienced engineers in the field of Highways, Development and Water management to work within our Hampshire Engineering Services team. We are seeking those with experience in concept design, feasibility, detailed design and project management, and on-site delivery, with demonstrated performance and suitable experience at this level.

What you’ll do

The role offers opportunities to work across a large range of projects the council supports. The candidate must be a confident communicator and well organized, as the role involves working with a range of colleagues and clients both within Hampshire and undertaking contracted service work for external parties. The candidate must be aware of and conversant with current industry legislation, standards, and guidance, and demonstrate best practice regarding their work. The council is committed to mitigating climate change effects on our networks and properties and ensuring we push towards carbon net zero and reduction of other detrimental effects in our environment. What we’re looking for (Qualifications)

  • A technically adept individual ideally with experience in the sectors described.
  • A team player with strong collaborative skills towards delivering schemes efficiently, effectively, to time and cost with an eye for quality.
  • Excellent communication skills for building positive relationships with a diverse range of people, including clients, members, professionals and colleagues.
  • Sound IT skills and ability to accurately record information.

Work Arrangement

This role will be based at our Winchester offices. As part of Hampshire County Council’s Open Workplace Policy, the successful candidate can undertake a proportion of their work at home. You can come into our Winchester-based offices flexibly, or on a regular basis if you prefer. You will also join the whole team for in-office collaborative working days.
