Overview

Engineer (Roads) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland. Based in the North West (Manchester or Liverpool).

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of highway designs for diverse sectors, clients and projects through all stages of the project life cycle.
  • Be responsible, or actively engaged, for delivering projects to budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior and developing technical staff.
  • Support Project Managers within the design team in planning, programming, technical input to pricing of project briefs, proposals, deliverables and cost estimation.
  • Work on multiple varied multi-disciplinary project/client accounts.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to deliver schemes/projects.
  • On an ad hoc basis, support site supervision and monitor contractor compliance with the Contract and Works Information.

What We Will Be Looking For

  • Passion for design and developing innovative solutions; initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent within a highway design role.
  • Progress toward CEng or IEng (demonstrable).
  • Knowledge and experience of highway design across project stages; advantageous areas include road geometry, junctions, inclusive active travel, drainage, road restraint, traffic signs and road markings.
  • Knowledge of relevant design codes (e.g., Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, TSRGD) and experience with contract documentation and approvals.
  • Ability to use or direct the use of software such as Autodesk Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage or PDS.
  • Experience with Designers Duties under CDM regulations.
