An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a senior engineering leader to join a pioneering organisation driving the UKs transition to a low-carbon future. We're working on behalf of a rapidly growing business operating at the cutting edge of energy infrastructure, delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects across the UK.

As Energy Engineering Director, you'll take full leadership of a high-performing engineering function, operating across RIBA Stages 0-4C and advising into construction and operations. This role plays a crucial part in bridging strategic design and project delivery with significant cross-functional collaboration, external stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership responsibilities.

This is a key leadership position for a Chartered Engineer with a strong background in mechanical or electrical design, and a passion for driving real change through sustainable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic and technical leadership to an established engineering team.

Manage resources, budgets and delivery across multiple design-led projects.

Act as a senior representative in client meetings, technical forums, and public events.

Oversee engagement with specialist consultants and the broader supply chain.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and design codes.

Lead interface coordination between internal functions: procurement, commercial, construction, SHEQ, and legal.

Support project progression from early-stage feasibility to construction handover.

Champion a culture of innovation, best practice, and continuous improvement.

About you:

Degree-qualified in an engineering discipline (BEng/MEng), accredited by the Engineering Council.

Chartered status (CEng) or equivalent through IMechE, IET, or CIBSE.

Proven experience in leading technical teams within energy, infrastructure or building services.

Strong knowledge of RIBA stages 2-4C, with advisory input through RIBA 5-7.

Familiarity with statutory consents, building control, planning and environmental regulations.

Proficiency with key design software: AutoCAD, REVIT, IES VE (or similar).

Previous experience with CDM Principal Designer responsibilities is advantageous.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
