UK Engineering Manager for Core Technology Integrations
IG’s UK Division is seeking an exceptional technology lead for exciting new projects that will enable and deliver faster end-to-end products to better serve customers and drive growth.
As the successful candidate, you will be dissatisfied with the status quo, and determined to build better, safer, and faster systems. You will have hands-on experience in building financial systems in the enterprise and embedding modern engineering practices. You will have proven experience in effective coaching, coordinating complex projects, envisioning and evangelising enterprise architecture, and influencing decisions across technology teams and the business.

What you’ll do:
- Partner with UK product leads to discover desirable, feasible, and viable customer-centric products, especially for extensions and decoupling of Core Technology.
- Monitor third-party development team performance to ensure engineering best practices, quality code, and timely delivery as per DORA elite benchmarks.
- Lead and inspire the technical direction. Identify constraints, tackle risks early, and focus on building working software.
- Collaborate with IG Architects to envision a future architecture that grants greater autonomy to the UK division for its Core Technology investments, accelerating integrations.
- Communicate progress and share success stories across the organization. Share learnings to foster continuous improvement and raise the bar.
What you’ll need:
- Stakeholder management strategies to ensure engagement and effective communication across teams and leadership.
- Leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams, coaching, and inspiring performance.
- Experience embedding engineering best practices like CI, TDD, trunk-based development, DevOps, security, observability, and iteration. Ability to use data, such as DORA metrics, for continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience in building services, improving legacy systems in Java, with recent focus on containerization and cloud migration. Ability to review code and lead by example.
- A passion for achieving ambitious goals, using Lean, Agile, and AI workflows, and working in the fast-paced financial market environment.
