Engineering Manager – Shiplift Safety

Join our Design Authority (DA) team as Engineering Manager overseeing the Shiplift Safety Justification Plan (SJP). You’ll lead safety case production, manage engineering workstreams, and ensure safe delivery of Ship lift programmes through to end‑of‑life.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the Shiplift Safety Justification Plan (SJP)
  • Manage engineering inputs across all Ship lift programmes
  • Guide Safety Case & Design Engineers
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the project lifecycle
  • Promote safety, compliance and best practices
  • Strong engineering leadership in safety‑critical environments
  • Experience in safety case management and stakeholder engagement
  • Knowledge of Design Authority responsibilities & standards

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards it with solid CPD)
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear regulatory compliance

Desirable Experience

  • In‑depth knowledge of Design Authority (DA) roles & nuclear safety cases
  • Project engineering & site integration
  • Technical assurance and compliance with industry legislation
  • Authoring technical reports, specs, and queries
  • Experience in regulated environments
  • Stakeholder engagement across disciplines
  • Basic H&S training for site work
  • Mentoring and supervising engineers
  • Organised, detail‑oriented, with top‑tier written & verbal communication

Additional Information

Due to the nature of this role the successful candidate will require Security clearance. To gain this they will be required to be a Sole UK national, Hybrid working from home/Assystem Office.

Sc clearance required to start. Sole UK national.
