We Are Skyral:
We believe every decision maker can be empowered by technology. Skyral combines AI, leading edge simulation technology and world class expertise to transform the decision making experience. Our products and services enable faster and more confident decisions in a complex, unforgiving world. We deploy practical, intuitive and efficient solutions to governments and enterprises, delivering outstanding outcomes at the speed of relevance.
At Skyral, Engineering Managers are servant‑leaders whose core mission is to create the conditions for their teams to sustainably build the right things, at the right time, in the right way. Drawing on deep technical expertise, sharp product intuition, and empathetic people leadership, you remove roadblocks, champion pragmatic engineering practices, and steer the development of reliable, scalable modelling and simulation capabilities.
The Simulation Team builds the technological foundations that empower customers to execute, configure, orchestrate and visualise simulations of unprecedented complexity and scale in high fidelity. This directly aligns with our unique selling proposition of building a platform ecosystem that enables rapid innovation, reducing time-to-market (3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months), and providing a competitive edge through sophisticated modeling capabilities and ultra realistic 2D & 3D visualisations.
In this role you will translate ambitious product goals and customer requirements into clearly scoped, value‑driven engineering work that advances our products and projects, while nurturing a culture of psychological safety, continuous learning, and ownership so every engineer can thrive.
What You Will Be Responsible For:
- Ensure components owned by the team are built in line with CTPO‑defined Technical Strategies and advocate for their reuse in new and existing solutions
- Own component roadmaps, shaping backlog items based on feature requests and strategic factors
- Define and evolve component‑level technical architectures
- Be hands-on with code, infrastructure and product workflows, unblocking the team when required
- Help solve the complex technical challenges that allow us to deliver solutions that delight customers and Product components that ensure we can grow
- Allocate engineering talent across active solutions, product roadmap items, and new‑solution proposals, attending the weekly Talent Allocation meeting
- Attend relevant stage‑gates during the bid process and support accurate effort and cost estimation for new bids
- Ensure your team fully understands Skyral’s Business Objectives, Product Roadmap, overarching Technical Strategies, and the Skyral Way of working
- Define initiatives for the Technical Roadmap and prioritise them in collaboration with the wider engineering leadership
- Advocate the use of your product components on Customer Solutions
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven engineering leadership in a growth‑stage, highly technical product company, ideally in modelling & simulation, high‑performance computing, or complex scientific software
- Technical depth across modern software engineering practices (e.g., cloud‑native architectures, CI/CD, automated testing) and an ability to dive into code or design reviews when needed
- Experience with the challenges associated with large scale, distributed systems
- Hands-on ability to work close to the code with team members to overcome deep technical challenges
- Solid architectural thinking and the ability to make and communicate technical trade-offs clearly
- Strategic product mindset with experience translating business objectives into actionable engineering roadmaps and measurable KPIs
- Data‑driven decision making using engineering and product metrics to guide continuous improvement and communicate progress to stakeholders
- Empathetic people management that fosters psychological safety, coaching, and career development for engineers of varied seniority
- Stakeholder fluency and great communication skills to collaborate with Product, BD, Project Management, and executive leadership
- Bias for action and improvement comfortable operating in ambiguity, rapidly assessing trade‑offs, and iterating on process, tooling, and culture to raise the bar
Note: Please feel empowered to apply for this position, even if you think you may only align with some of the qualities listed above. Your unique skills and perspectives could be just what we’re looking for.
What We Can Offer You:
- Unlimited Paid Holiday - we value and support the need to maintain a strong work-life balance.
- Hybrid Working - we understand that a one-size-fits all approach doesn’t suit everyone. We have an office based in Central London if you prefer working in an office.
- Flexible Working Hours - We’re not bound by the 9-to-5 model. Collaborate with your manager on determining a work schedule that suits you.
- Enhanced Parental Leave - we’re proud to offer 26 weeks maternity leave and 4 weeks paternity leave at full pay.
- Private Medical & Dental Insurance - offered through Bupa.
- Honest about Compensation - We maintain a well defined salary range which a member of the Talent Team will discuss with you during the first call.
- Healthy Snacks & Drinks Provided - If you decide to come into the office, we have a range of snacks and drinks for you to enjoy.
At Skyral, we are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equality and inclusion. We also ensure that individuals with disabilities have access to reasonable adjustments. If you require such accommodations during the job application process we ask that you inform a member of our Talent Team.
