# Engineering OfficerRef no:: GLA14315Published:: 19/09/2025Closes:: 05/10/2025Location:: Eastgate 727 London Road Glasgow, G40 3APSalary:: £43,956.89 - £51,154.27 per yearContract Type:: PermanentPosition Type:: Full TimeHours:: 35 hours per weekWork From Home:: Hybrid## Job DescriptionAn opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for an Engineering Officer to join our TRAFFCOM Service on a permanent basis.NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services.If you’re interested in working within a service that touches on all aspects within the city, please read on.**Position Details**This role is part of a team providing essential Traffic Engineering support within the TRAFFCOM Service and will contribute to the successful delivery of NRS and Council aims and objectives.You will be responsible for keeping the city and its transport links running smoothly, this includes the maintenance of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) which comprise of the traffic signal network, variable message signs and traffic cameras. You will manage resources to ensure projects, such as the City Deals Avenue programme, the City Network, Bus Improvement works, etc., meet timescales and budgetary requirements.You must possess good communication and IT skills, be able to assess technical problems and provide effective solutions. Working as part of the team you must be able to manage your workload under pressure and be able to deal with emergency situations whilst working to tight deadlines.**A Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or an Electrical discipline, a current driving licence, and experience of working in a roads/traffic related environment are essential requirements of this role.**A good understanding of traffic signal operation and design, knowledge of traffic signal design guidance, Chapter 6 and traffic signal control methods is also essential.Previous experience in working in a traffic signal maintenance or design environment is desirable.Further details regarding what this role entails are noted within the Role Profile for the post, whilst the Person Specification document confirms the key competencies you are required to demonstrate in your application.**Contract Details**Weekly Hours: 35Work Pattern: Monday - FridayAnnual Salary: £43,956.89 - £51,154.27 on an incremental scaleHybrid working is available in this role.
