HSSE & Regulatory Compliance

• Serve as the project’s CDM Principal Designer, ensuring compliance with UK CDM 2015 regulations.
• Oversee and verify JV regulatory duties related to design safety and health.
• Lead by example in setting the HSE tone for both internal teams and external contractors.
• Confirm that the role of Principal Designer is being performed by the JV team in line with regulations.
• Coordinate with the CDM Compliance Analyst to evidence compliance with CDM requirements, in collaboration with the HSSE team.

Engineering Leadership

• Provide consistent functional leadership on technical matters across all engineering disciplines.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering activities across packages in collaboration with the EIS team.
• Define engineering codes, standards, and processes, ensuring compliance and up to date maintenance.
• Own and manage the overall system design, engineering integrity, and technical scope optimisation for value.
• Lead technical assurance activities and validate adherence to technical specifications. Manage the HSE Design File and ensure Principal Designer duties are executed throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee technical interface management across internal and external stakeholders.
• Chair and manage the Technical Advisory Group for Shareholders/Lenders.
• Set and maintain standards and requirements for discipline engineering across packages.
• Provide expert judgement and oversight on deviation requests, technical queries, and non-conformance requests.
• Support project delivery through clear technical input and guidance for decision making.
• Develop and deliver engineering delivery plans to articulate how detailed design and follow-on engineering will support package delivery.
• Conduct Technology Readiness Assessments and assure technology development plans.

Quality Management

• Own the QA/QC strategy, budget, and execution plan.
• Review and approve deviations, concessions, and changes to quality requirements or technical specifications.
• Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement across engineering deliverables.
• Facilitate quality assurance processes in support of package delivery.

Project & People Leadership

• Set and monitor the functional execution plan, reporting progress to senior leadership.
• Manage functional capability: define standards, test competence, and ensure team readiness.
• Provide day-to-day direction to direct reports and functional guidance to indirect discipline engineers.
• Identify key project risks and develop integrated mitigation strategies.
• Promote staff wellbeing, engagement, and professional development.
• Coordinate across all discipline engineers and ensure consistent functional standards for Engineering and Quality.

Überzeugendes Profil

• A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in engineering.
• A candidate who can excel in an intercultural and cross-functional environment.
• Initiative and the ability to work effectively in a team are your strengths.
• Engaging and effective presentation abilities.
• Fluency in Business English. German is a plus.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building, including communication and negotiation skills.
• Willingness to travel to locations including London, Edinburgh, and Hamburg.

Job specific requirements

• Execution-Phase Leadership in Large-Scale Projects: At least 10 years in engineering management on major offshore wind, offshore oil & gas, or other large marine infrastructure projects; minimum 5 years in execution phase (fabrication, transport & installation, commissioning).
• Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Management: Direct oversight of multiple engineering disciplines within a single project; proven track record in cross-package interfaces; matrix organisation experience.
• Regulatory & Safety Compliance under UK Law: CDM (2015) Principal Designer role delivery on a major project.
• Quality Management in Fabrication & Installation: End-to-end QA/QC responsibility including concessions and NCRs.
• Contractor & Interface Management: Experience with EPC contractors or Tier 1 suppliers, scope changes, and risk reviews.
• Stakeholder Engagement at Senior Level: Experience interfacing with shareholders, lenders, and regulatory bodies; leading technical advisory boards.
• Key Competencies: Strategic leadership, stakeholder management, cross-JV/shoreholder influence, and strong communication.

Über den Bereich

We are looking for an experienced and collaborative individual with at least 10 years’ senior engineering management experience in large-scale offshore energy projects, with a minimum of 5 years in execution-phase delivery including fabrication, installation, and commissioning. Experience must include multi-disciplinary technical leadership, CDM Principal Designer responsibilities under UK regulations, and end-to-end QA/QC management. The role is a senior leadership functional role within the MM and will be reporting to Integration Director. The role has direct reports in the project organisation, and there is also the expectation that the postholder will provide technical leadership, oversight and guidance to indirect report discipline engineers who are embedded within the delivery teams in service of delivering technical integrity of the assets.
