You’ll produce and maintain high‑quality systems to achieve business objectives through contributions to the development process, including system design/architecture and performance management of the team. You will work in partnership with relevant teams across the organisation to identify how technology can solve business challenges and be capable of answering “how and why” technology is designed and delivered. You will coach and mentor other engineers, helping them develop better solutions and understand system design with a focus on career progression and personal development. You will be responsible for effective performance management and driving an environment of high performance. You will support the Product Manager with understanding and scheduling upcoming work including resourcing, and will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running and delivery of the squad’s work stream.What you’ll bringWe are a Microsoft shop, so our core language is C# and our platform is entirely in the cloud on Azure, using a variety of PaaS services including Web Apps, Functions, Azure SQL, Cosmos, Azure Service Bus, AppInsights, APIM, etc. The Engineering Lead needs both people management and technical ability, and we’d love to see experience in a combination of the following:Proven team leadership and line management experience, including coaching, mentoring, performance development, and supporting team wellbeingExcellent commercial development experience with C# / .Net / .Net CoreA good understanding of SOLID principles, Event Driven Architecture (EDA) and Domain-Driven Design (DDD)Experience of RESTful API designExperience of Azure cloud development, and a cloud-first approachA good foundation in Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies, demonstrating proficiency in writing and maintaining test cases using one or more of the following libraries: NUnit, Microsoft.TestFramework and SeleniumEmotional intelligence.
