Overview

As an Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for driving architectural maturity across the organization, developing and maintaining technology strategies and architecture for our payments systems. You will have a deep understanding of the payments industry, strong technical expertise, and the ability to align technology with business goals. The Enterprise Architect will work closely with cross-functional architects and teams to ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of our systems. The role requires strong leadership skills to drive strategy adoption across the organization and ensure that Planet’s key programmes and initiatives are addressing its strategic goals and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Architecture Strategy and Planning
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive enterprise architecture roadmaps aligned with Planet’s strategic objectives.
    • Define and enforce architectural principles, standards, and guidelines.
    • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and industry trends to inform strategic decision-making.
  • System Design and Integration
    • Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for our payment processing systems.
    • Ensure seamless integration of new technologies, platforms, and applications with existing systems.
    • Collaborate with infrastructure and development teams to design robust architectural solutions that meet both current and future business requirements.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and guidelines.
  • Governance and Compliance
    • Evolve and enforce architecture governance processes and frameworks.
    • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security best practices.
    • Conduct regular architecture reviews and audits to maintain compliance and architectural integrity.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Partner with business leaders, product managers, and technical teams to understand and translate business needs into technical solutions.
    • Drive standards across the architecture community within Planet.
    • Communicate architectural vision, strategy, and progress to executive leadership and technical teams.
    • Foster a collaborative environment to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Performance and Scalability
    • Design systems to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability to handle increasing transaction volumes.
    • Implement monitoring and performance tuning processes to ensure optimal system performance.
    • Proactively identify and resolve architectural issues and technical challenges to enhance system stability.
  • Technology Leadership and Mentorship
    • Lead technology initiatives and projects from concept to implementation.
    • Influence and guide technology teams on architectural best practices and standards.
    • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies, sharing insights with the team.

Qualifications

  • An analytical problem solver with high attention to detail.
  • Natural bias towards documenting high quality architectural artefacts, publishing policies, roadmaps, strategies, designs and with significant use of diagrams.
  • Able to articulate technical solutions and concepts to non-technical business leaders.
  • A natural story-teller who can explain complex concepts in simple terms in both written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrable long-term experience operating within architectural functions and someone who thrives working as part of a team in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Experience of architecting and securing large-scale public and private cloud environments is a must, preferably within a global regulated context.
  • Partnership across all lines of business and development teams, particularly for strategic adoption, is essential, so you’ll need to be collaborative and good at transparent communications.
  • High levels of communication across a wide range of stakeholders from C-suite to engineers.
  • As a rapidly evolving organization, you must also be able to manage change at pace and balance the existing detailed requirements and secure the evidence necessary to meet stringent audit requirements.
  • You will be able to react quickly, decisively, calmly, and deliberately in high-stress, high-impact situations.
  • As a motivated self-starter, you will have a drive to investigate and remediate complex technology issues and develop strategies to meet business goals.
