Title - Environmental Manager
Location - Cheltenham, Gloucester
What you will be doing -
As Environmental Manager, you will support the Framework Head of HS&E on all environmental aspects. You will support and implement the HS&E strategy and systems to ensure that the delivery of our operations meets exemplary environmental standards. This role supports improvement and consistency in performance, ensuring compliance with management systems, and implementing continual improvement initiatives.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative culture that supports HS&E behaviours and excellence.
- Support the implementation of HS&E strategy to drive continual improvement across the business.
- Promote and lead behavioural culture programmes aligned with business values.
- Represent the HSE function in internal and external forums, sharing best practices and initiatives.
- Implement and manage environmental systems in line with client and business requirements.
- Provide environmental guidance throughout project lifecycles, ensuring standards are met.
- Conduct environmental inspections, audits (including ISO 14001), and review high-risk activities.
- Deliver training, investigate incidents, and use KPIs to drive performance and continual improvement.
- Contributes to continual improvement to unlock gains in environmental performance and mitigate risk to GT that could occur through environmental related issues.
- Responsible for investigating incidents and non-conformities, production of reports and leading opportunities for improvement, as appropriate.
- Open, curious, and analytical, with a strong focus on productivity, compliance, and continual improvement.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to engage across all levels and disciplines internally and externally.
- Thrives in complex, dynamic environments and builds strong collaborative relationships.
- Skilled in problem-solving, risk analysis, and implementing structured, effective solutions.
- Proven experience in environmental management across infrastructure, water, or regulated sectors.
- Knowledgeable in project lifecycle delivery, training programmes, and data analytics/reporting systems.
- Competent use of IT - Microsoft package, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PowerApps, PowerBi, Forms; Database systems such as: ActivSHEQ; Sphera Cloud etc.

Our major projects business stream focuses on delivering major works packages of £100m+, acting as the primary delivery route for large scale, complex infrastructure schemes.
