External Manufacturing (EM) Technologist
Location: Oud-Beijerland
Contract Duration: 12 or 18 months
Travel Requirement: 20-40% within Europe

Mars is seeking a Senior External Manufacturing (EM) Technologist to be the primary interface between our company and our External Manufacturing (EM) partners. What will be your key responsibilities?
As the EM Technologist, you will:
Act as the primary Mars representative at External Manufacturing sites, embedding Mars’ principles and culture.
Ensure implementation and maintenance of the Global Quality & Food Safety Standards and Factory Quality Management Process (QMP).
Partner with commercial teams to drive performance and continuous improvement of External Manufacturers, focusing on their adherence to Mars Q&FS requirements and best practices.
Oversee new product development and technical changes, ensuring robust management under the Mars QMP framework (e.g., QuEST and PPM).
Manage product incidents according to the PRIMP process, ensuring escalation within defined timelines.
Conduct audits at External Manufacturing sites, ensuring compliance with the Mars External Manufacturing Quality Management Standard.
Lead change management initiatives impacting product compliance with quality, legal, and food safety requirements.
Drive continuous improvement efforts within EM partners to safeguard the integrity of Mars products.
What are we looking for?
- Academic education in food science/technology or related subject.
- Visible passion, leadership and behaviors in line with MARS’ first principle – QUALITY
- Minimum 3 years working experience in a Food Development/Manufacturing environment, preferably within Quality & Food Safety and with (lead) auditor experience and qualification.
- Strong analytical and problem solving capability
- Proven and effective project management & organising experience
- Strong communicator & relationship builder with good commercial awareness and supplier management skills
- Can travel region wide for team, supplier and internal meetings- est. 20-40% travel
