Overview
Facility Supervisor (City-Wide) – Grade N05 SCP13-17. £29,064-31,022. 37.0 hours per week (split shift).
An opportunity exists for a suitable individual to work within the Facility Services Division of Operations and Regulatory Services Directorate as a Relief Facility Supervisor.
Location: City-wide travel required, with duties in schools and public buildings within the City and Gateshead area.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the security of the premises, setting alarms, and addressing general health and safety issues relating to the building.
- Supervise cleaning staff and designated cleaning areas; manage a defined cleaning workload and ensure delivery to required standards.
- Carry out porterage duties as required and manage time effectively to deal with varying workloads.
- Coordinate and support key events in the school calendar (e.g., remedial works, parents’ evenings, governing body meetings, Christmas and summer fairs).
- Travel citywide (between 06:00 and 19:00) and undertake a split shift requirement of the role.
- Work with limited supervision, demonstrate initiative, and maintain positive relationships with staff, children, parents, and other stakeholders.
What we are looking for / Qualifications
- Good communication skills; the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry equipment, materials, and furniture; caretaking experience in a school or similar environment is an advantage.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work to fixed deadlines; flexible approach to work, hours, and locations; customer-focused; able to deliver to required standards.
- Suitable to work with children and young people; able to understand and undertake written and spoken instructions in English.
- Must be able to travel citywide and participate in split shift patterns.
- Safety and welfare: part of the role involves health and safety responsibilities and dealing with varied workloads in a busy environment.
