Overview:
The Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is delighted to be recruiting a new Family Nurse to join one of our teams based in Dunfermline.
FNP is a specialist relational intensive home visiting service offered to all eligible first time pregnant mothers aged 20 years and under, and aged 25 and under if care experienced. The programme starts from early pregnancy until the first child turns 2 years of age. FNP is underpinned by an internationally robust evidence base which shows it can improve health, social and educational outcomes in the short, medium and long term.
The programme is delivered, alongside the universal Child Health Surveillance Programme (CHSP), by family nurses who also undertake the role of the named person for the child.
We Are Seeking Applicants Who Are:
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the FNP programme
- Passionate about working with young parents and committed to supporting them to improve their health and wellbeing outcomes
- Motivated by making a difference in the lives of children and families in the community
- Skilled in forming strong therapeutic relationships and delivering person‑centred care
- Reflective practitioners in order to promote the FNP programme delivery
- Experienced in holding a caseload and working autonomously; this is essential to ensure you can manage and prioritise complex needs within a structured programme
- Professional experience working with young people
- A working knowledge and experience of Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC), child protection and legislation relating to children and young people
What we can offer you:
- The opportunity to make a positive difference for young families and their children
- A supportive and reflective team culture
- A robust clinical and therapeutic supervision model
- The opportunity to study towards a masters Diploma in Family Nursing, supporting your professional growth and specialist development. This course is undertaken in your own time and complements the reflective, evidence‑based nature of the Family Nurse Partnership model
Successful applicants are required to be in post by 2nd March 2026 in time to commence the mandatory FNP education, some of which is residential.
Interviews are scheduled to take place on Thursday 27th November 2025.
Interviews will include a formal panel interview (including role play) and a separate interview with FNP clients.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.
We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website.
For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licensed Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.
It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.
