What’s the role?
We are looking for Family Practitioners to join the innovative Integrated Adolescent Service. They will join the edge of care team and will work alongside Social Workers and Lead Practitioners to reduce entries into the care and criminal justice systems.
The service is committed to preventing offending, reducing re-offending, and safeguarding children from intra- and extra-familial harm. We have delivered government-funded initiatives such as Turnaround, Engage, Your Choice, the National Referral Mechanism pilot, and an in-service Health & Wellbeing Hub. Lewisham was chosen to be a DFE Pathfinder authority to test social care reforms. The Integrated Adolescent Service has led the testing of Multi-agency Adolescent Protection & Adolescent Family Help Teams to establish improved pathways for children at risk of extra-familial harm or other vulnerabilities typical of adolescence. We are committed to using relational and strength-based approaches, and to be Trauma Informed, Anti-Racist, and to use Restorative, Contextual Safeguarding & Signs of Safety approaches to deliver interventions to children and their families.
What’s in it for you?
- Excellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:
- Generous holiday allowance
- Local Government Pension scheme
- Flexible working and family friendly policies
- Season ticket and bicycle loans
- A range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships
- Supportive staff networks
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate should have excellent skills in engaging vulnerable adolescents, their families and professional networks. You will be committed to working with young people in a relationship-based and strengths-based way and you will be confident in working with parents, carers and the young person’s wider community and professional networks. You will bring a good understanding of working in a local authority setting and thorough knowledge of the issues affecting vulnerable adolescents. You will have a strong skills base and be able to use a variety of ways to support young people and their families and deliver interventions.
Location
The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.
