Field Officer

Homebased within easy access of the London region. Permanent. Full time: for this role, we are open to discussing the possibility of part-time working (minimum 0.6FTE/3 days per week) for the right candidate.

Salary range £64,601 to £71,160 (FTE to £(phone number removed)FTE pro rata). The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) is a leading professional body representing more than 25,000 school and college leaders across the UK. Due to a retirement, we are now looking for a Field Officer to join our London regional team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and representation to senior leaders across the region.
  • Be a trusted partner during challenging times and a strategic ally in leadership journeys.
  • Contribute to delivering ASCL’s mission by speaking up on behalf of members and acting on behalf of children and young people.
  • Travel frequently within the region to meet with members, attend meetings, and engage with employers.
  • Attend regular professional development sessions and engage with ASCL HQ as required.

What We’re Looking For / Qualifications

  • Credibility, empathy, and insight; ideally someone who has walked in the shoes of our members.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and experience of issues facing senior leadership teams in schools and colleges.
  • Ability to engage with individuals at a senior level.
  • Experience in a senior leadership position within schools or colleges within the last two years. Business leaders with extensive HR experience or leaders at or above Deputy Headteacher level or equivalent are well suited to this post.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Live within easy access of the region you serve.
  • Work from home with frequent travel within the region to meet members and attend meetings.
  • Regular contact with and visits to ASCL HQ in Leicester; participate in professional development sessions.
  • IT and telephone equipment will be provided.
