Overview

Field Operations Technical and Contracts advisor - 31772. This role will support the programming, commercial and technical management of suppliers delivering revenue maintenance activities within Thames Area, while strengthening technical skills and assurance of Field Operations Teams enabling efficient and safe delivery of maintenance programmes. Reporting directly to the Field Team Leader, you will build working relationships with the Local Delivery Lead, Asset Performance teams, Water Land and Biodiversity teams, and framework suppliers to develop and deliver an optimised programme of work. This is an area role responsible for all elements of asset management including FCRM, Navigations and Water, Land and Biodiversity assets.

The Thames Area Operations Teams are motivated and focused on delivering our strategic goal of assets operating when required, aiming for a world-class asset management service and ISO 55001 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Review programmes to optimise delivery arrangements while ensuring assets reduce flood risk to the communities they protect.
  • Manage and develop contract arrangements to meet future requirements.
  • Collaborate with field operations to ensure efficient use of staff while operating, responding and maintaining assets.
  • Build relationships internally and externally.
  • Assess and assure the health and safety of field teams and suppliers to meet required standards.
  • Provide assurance skills, knowledge and experience to internally and externally delivered work.
  • Prepare monthly reporting on key information to inform the wider business.
  • Work with the Local Delivery Lead to stay within budget and maximise value for money.

Experience/skills Required

You’ll be confident, organized and able to demonstrate a strong track record of delivering projects/programmes of work.

  • A Full driving licence.
  • Experience in managing health, safety and wellbeing through on-site management.
  • Familiar and competent with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn in-house systems.
  • Experience in managing contractors and/or NEC contract management.
  • Knowledge and experience of Asset Management.
  • Ability to manage a programme of works.
  • HNC/HND with Contract/Construction Management Modules, or EA NVQ Level 4 or relevant technical qualification equivalent.

Desirable

  • Site Manager’s Safety Training Scheme
  • Formal contract management training with NEC4 or similar.
  • Experience in technical leadership or people management; experience managing projects within the Environment Agency.
  • Familiarity with assets in the Thames area is beneficial but not essential.

Working arrangements

This role is office-based with some on-site work. Limited hybrid working is possible. Not suitable for remote working.
