Please note, this role is based out of our Coventry Store Support Centre & Home. Colleagues go into the Coventry office 2 days per week on average.

Joining the Finance team at Sainsbury's as a Finance Associate offers a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative environment where you can contribute to the effective accounting, forecasting, and reporting of supplier income. As we aim to simplify processes, improve reporting accuracy, and drive best practises in supplier funding accounting, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Commercial teams, building strong relationships with stakeholders, and driving positive changes within the business. What you'll do

As a Finance Associate - GM&C Trading division, you will play a crucial role in supporting the accounting, forecasting, reporting, and collection of supplier income. You will produce weekly reports on funding aged debt, engage with Commercial teams to ensure compliance with supplier funding accounting processes, and drive improvements in reporting accuracy to enhance trading performance. Your responsibilities will include performing key reconciliations, supporting period end processes, and collaborating with various Finance teams to maintain strong relationships and address issues promptly. Additionally, you will bridge communication between trading teams and Argos Trading Finance, contribute to external and internal audit processes, and proactively identify opportunities for process enhancements and strategic alignment within the Supplier Funding team and broader organisation. Your analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders will be essential in succeeding in this role.

Who you are

You are a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a strong curiosity for understanding key business drivers and improving financial processes. With your expertise in financial analysis, Excel proficiency, and stakeholder management skills, you play a crucial role in supporting the accounting, forecasting, and reporting of supplier income to ensure optimal cash flow management and trading performance. Your ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively, and proactively identify process improvements demonstrates your commitment to driving strategic objectives and contributing to the success of the Supplier Funding team and wider finance community.

  • Demonstrable ability to analyse financial data and extract key business insights (e.g. identifying trends, variances, or drivers impacting performance)
  • Proficiency in Excel and data manipulation tools; using formulas, pivot tables, or data models to support financial analysis
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across functions; evidenced through collaboration or cross-functional project involvement
  • Clear and confident communication of financial insights to both finance and non-finance audiences
  • Proven attention to detail in financial reporting or analysis tasks; ensuring accuracy in data inputs, reconciliations, or reporting outputs
  • Preferred (but not essential) to be studying, or planning to study, towards a professional accounting qualification
