FINANCE MANAGER – ENGINEERING & MAINTENANCE

easyJet are looking for a Finance Manager to join the Operations Finance team, partnering the Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) operations. The role sits within the wider Operations Team and is a key business partnering position with financial ownership for E&M costs and line management of a direct report.

The team supports E&M costs and the business partners with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate forecasting, reporting and delivery of cost efficiency initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end finance business partner for E&M costs with complete financial management and ownership of these areas.
  • Technical evaluation of capital investment business cases, ROI and payback, including optionality, recommendations, pre- and post-evaluation and ongoing tracking of performance against anticipated returns.
  • Manage and challenge E&M on unit cost of production with clear targets, variance ownership, and timely corrective actions.
  • Create and implement new performance KPIs and productivity measures for multiple areas within E&M.
  • Provide business partnership between business owners and financial performance.
  • Lead long-term planning for E&M costs, including the Business Plan and long-term strategic plan.
  • Deliver month-end outputs, forecasts, projects and insightful analysis for the business.
  • Drive and monitor cost-saving initiatives within the strategic plan.
  • Business partnering with cross-functional stakeholders (finance, Operations & Fleet) to ensure clarity and integrity of results and forecasts.
  • Support cost programme strategy and delivery of initiatives; review and comment on monthly reporting and analysis; monthly re-forecasting; ad-hoc projects.
  • Own monthly detailed analysis and insight into costs to drive performance and improve the cost base; manage forecasts for consolidated PBT model, capex and cash flow; provide insights into risks and opportunities; drive process improvements.
  • Contribute to budget process and prepare presentations detailing variances by country and maintenance area for senior management and procurement.
  • Provide financial evaluation and act as lead decision-support for ad-hoc projects and cost-saving initiatives.
  • People leadership: manage one direct report, mentor junior team members, and maintain cross-functional relationships.

Requirements

  • Key Performance Indicators & Financial Targets
  • Support delivery of Cost per Seat (CPS) and Cost per Available Seat Kilometer (CASK) targets; maintain budget variance analysis and timely month-end packs with clear explanations.
  • Support strategic projects and track benefits delivery; deliver business initiatives for each area of responsibility; support development of in-year and pipeline cost initiatives with E&M.
  • What you will need
  • Qualified accountant with at least 3 years post-qualification experience.
  • Ability to thrive in large, complex, fast-moving teams and businesses; excellent analytical skills with variance analysis and drivers.
  • Strong business case skills on capital investments; ability to manage multiple tasks to deadlines; effective communication and challenge with stakeholders at all levels; ability to demonstrate the commercial value of finance projects and explain finance to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proactive team player, able to work on own initiative and offer different solutions; high motivation and enthusiasm; excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills (basic macros) and TM1 experience preferred.
  • Excellent self-management and time management; strong influence and relationship-building abilities.
