Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Manager to manage the financial aspects of events, ensuring accurate budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting. Initially overseeing our US events region, the Finance Manager will work closely with event planners and local teams to ensure events stay within budget whilst offering solutions to drive efficiency, hit company KPIs and maintain compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning & Budgeting: Develop and maintain annual and quarterly budgets for events, ensuring accuracy and alignment with financial goals and company KPIs.
  • Tracking & Variance Analysis: Track expenses against budgets and provide ongoing variance analysis reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Period End Reporting: Support with period end reporting ensuring the financial results of the event are accurately accounted for and presented in both statutory financial statements and management reports.
  • Revenue & Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements for events, participate in financial reviews and provide financial insights and recommendations to optimize future event budgets.
  • Forecasting & Commercial Decision Making: Work with event planners and department heads to forecast event revenues and support commercial decision making.
  • Cash & Revenue Reconciliation: Reconcile ticket sales, on-site takings, sponsorship revenue, and other event income sources.
  • Ad-hoc Reporting: Prepare ad-hoc reports to satisfy contractual reporting due to stakeholders and third parties.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure event financial information is documented and retained to support compliance with regulations, audit requirements and other statutory responsibilities.
  • Policy Adherence: Ensure adherence to company financial policies, accounting standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaboration & Business Partnering: Provide ad-hoc reporting and business partnering with key individuals in the business to support ongoing growth and financial modelling.
  • Qualifications & Skills: ACA, CIMA or equivalent qualification; experience in accounting (preferably within event management, hospitality, or a similar industry); proficiency in accounting software (preferably NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel; strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; knowledge of tax regulations, accounting standards, and financial compliance; experience with multi-jurisdiction and multi-currency is an asset; proven experience managing the budget process, reporting on variances and cost mitigation.

Qualifications & Skills

  • ACA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in accounting, preferably within event management, hospitality, or a similar industry (experience within the sport industry would be advantageous)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (preferably NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, accounting standards, and financial compliance
  • Experience with multi-jurisdiction and multi-currency would be an asset
  • Proven experience managing the budget process, reporting on variances and cost mitigation

Location

London, United Kingdom. Hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days per week in the London Office. Occasional travel to America is required.
