Finance System Lead – ERP Implementation

12-month Contract | £700 per day Inside IR35 | 2-3 days on-site in North London

Salt Recruitment’s Local Government team is working with a North London council on a major ERP transformation programme. We are looking for an experienced Finance System Lead to take ownership of the finance workstream and ensure a smooth, successful transition to the new ERP platform.

What you’ll be doing

• Acting as the primary liaison between the finance function and the ERP project team.
• Leading the capture and validation of finance requirements, ensuring they are accurately reflected in system design.
• Overseeing configuration, testing, and validation of ERP financial modules (SAP experience highly desirable).
• Managing data migration activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
• Working with the implementation partner to develop and execute test scripts and lead user acceptance testing.
• Delivering training to finance staff and supporting change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption.
• Producing finance reports and dashboards in the new ERP system.
• Allocating work within the finance team to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

What we’re looking for

• CCAB, CIMA or equivalent qualified accountant – essential.
• Proven ERP implementation experience – SAP strongly preferred, but other major ERP systems will be considered.
• Local Government finance experience – essential. You must understand council financial processes, reporting requirements, and controls.
• Strong background in data migration, system testing, and UAT.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work confidently across finance, IT, and project teams.

• Length: 12 months
• Rate: £700 per day (Inside IR35)
• Location: North London – 2-3 days per week on-site
