We are recruiting for a dynamic finance professional to join our Corporate Finance team, supporting a high-impact transformation project aligned with the UK Government's Making Tax Digital (MTD) initiative. This role will be instrumental in advising on the accounting treatment of complex transactions, enhancing digital tax compliance, and driving collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting guidance on a range of transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Prepare technical accounting papers and documentation to support audit and regulatory reviews.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver transformation projects.
  • Support change management activities including training, communications, and documentation.
  • Act as a key point of contact for finance-related queries.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with transformation activities.
  • Support the development of robust controls and governance frameworks.
  • Support other BAU activities within the team.

Qualifications and criteria

  • Essential: Qualified through ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW, CAI, or ICAS, or studying towards such qualification.
  • Proven experience working on finance transformation or regulatory change projects.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex data to identify issues, draw insights, and propose practical solutions.
  • Proven track record of initiating and driving improvements to processes, systems, or team performance.
  • High level of accuracy in work, ensuring outputs meet quality standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues across the team and wider business to achieve shared objectives.
  • A sound understanding of the taxes and duties administered by HMRC, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a business context.
  • Experience contributing to or leading transformation initiatives, with the ability to adapt to change and support others through periods of transition.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in both project and business as usual (BAU) environments.
  • Experience using digital tools to enable smarter ways of working and sharing knowledge across the team.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably SAP) and other automation tools.

Technical skills and assessment

Technical elements that will be assessed at interview include knowledge of accounting concepts and the ability to explain accounting concepts clearly and concisely to a non-technical audience.

Benefits

Alongside your salary of £50,686, HM Revenue and Customs contributes £14,683 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
