- Timely preparation and production of accurate consolidated financial reporting for the group and all other associated entities including Flash reports and Group consolidated management accounts (covering P&L, Balance sheet and Cashflow) as well as the production of all externally required reporting packs
- Day to day management (with the support of 1 Management Accountant and 1 Assistant Management Accountant) of 12 legal entities
- Provision of analysis and commentary on any financial matters on an ad-hoc basis
- Playing a key part in the production of year end accounts, preparation for the audit and the smooth running of the audit process with our external auditors
- Responsibility with support from the team in the management and maintenance of well-maintained and supported ledgers across all group companies
- Completing and compiling Group wide VAT returns and assisting in other HMRC matters
- Assisting the Group Financial Controller in the continual improvement of financial processes across the group
- Assisting the Group Financial Controller in the continual development and training of the junior members of the team being able to adapt to a changing environment as needed
- Support the Group Financial Controller to monitor and maintain the whole Group wide cashflow and cashflow management always ensuring tight and sound control including driving the finance teams credit control process and supplier payment runs with support from the wider team
- Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls
- Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems
- Liaises with as required the external auditors, HMRC and bankers and assists with the day-to-day management of the systems in place for these
- Reviews financial statements with management personnel and plans an active part in the financial management of the Group
- Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
- Have relevant experience in a multi company SME environment
- Highly organised with the ability to manage a busy daily workload in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business
- Experience of training, mentoring, and leading a team
- Confident and a Team player
- Experience and confidence using Sage and Microsoft packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be flexible, adaptable with a can-do attitude and willing to learn and develop
- Excellent attention to detail and Methodical
- Experience in a similar role in a group environment with experience of consolidations in a complex group structure would be desirable
